How to stop hair loss effectively in men and women

How to stop hair loss? It has always been an important question for medical science.

Hair can fall out for many different reasons and the condition can range from mild hair thinning to total baldness. Over the last few decades, the medical community has invested a vast amount of research in the hope of finding the causes and a suitable treatment to stop hair loss and reverse the process.

Typical reasons for excessive hair loss

Hair loss can be caused by a variety of factors including physical and emotional stress, unhealthy diet, iron deficiency, infections, or as a side-effect of prescription medicines. When hair loss is due to the above reasons it is usually a temporary state and it can be reversed easily, especially when it is looked after and treated at an early stage.

The most common condition in men who are balding between the ages of 20 and 45, is male pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia that is caused by genetic factors and hormonal imbalance. Androgenetic alopecia also occurs in women, although it is less common. Hair loss in women generally begins between the ages of 30 and 40, when hair becomes thinner over the whole head. Occasionally hormonal imbalances may cause hair loss in women which resembles classic male pattern baldness.

When hair loss is a temporary state it can be dealt with very effectively. Once the causes of the condition are treated and, once the hair follicles become healthy, natural hair growth will start again. However, in spite of the great efforts of the medical community and hair care industry, it must be stated that at the moment there is no sufficient cure for hereditary hair loss, which means that if you have a genetic predisposition to hormonal hair loss and a follicle sensitivity to DHT, you are very likely to lose your hair to a certain degree at a certain age.

With an effective treatment, however, it is possible to slow down or stop hair loss of genetic origin and even to revert the process in some cases.

Researchers in the USA made a major breakthrough and gave hope to a lot of people suffering from hair loss in 2010 when they discovered that stem cells have a key role in androgenetic alopecia. Researchers stated that it isn’t the number of stem cells in the hair follicle which matters but instead a reduction in their activity. They do produce hair but the microscopic hair is nearly invisible to the naked eye. This research reinforces the fact, that a treatment which has an intensive regeneration effect, can reactivate the hair follicle stem cells and not only stops hair loss but it can even reverse the process, causing renewed growth in hair.
